Live Is But A Fleeting Moment
Written By Tan Hai Liang
Yesterday we got a shocking and sad news that a friend of ours had passed away. The shock was more so especially when we had only just met up about a month and a half ago.
As our friends gathered together at his wake, we were all solemnly being reminded of the frailty of our life and its preciousness. We realised again that we should live life to the fullest each day. Yesterday had passed and you can’t do anything about it. Tomorrow may never come, so you can’t do anything about it too. What you are doing is living the present moment.
So in all that you want to do tomorrow, next week or during the holidays, do it now. Enjoy the company of your family now, not tomorrow, not during the school holidays. Take effort to catch up with your friends now, not during the public holidays. Learn a new skill now, not when you have the time or when you are retiring. Start an exercise regime now, not when your doctor advices you.
How many times we hear of people regretting not doing the things they wanted to do until its too late?
What is holding you back? Are you too tired? You don’t have the mood? Are you feeling apprehensive or fearful? These are just your mind’s bad habit of procrastinating, keeping you in bed or in front of the TV. Control your mind and tell yourself to go do it.
In my heart I thank my friend who, in his passing remind us to carry on our life with zest and zeal. To enjoy each moment and make full use of it!
Got something to say?
