How To Deal With Failure

We all have plans to get rich. If you don’t have a plan, you can be sure that you won’t get rich. A plan is like a road map. How can you reach your destination without a map?
More often than not, we fail in what we do while trying to achieve success. How do you deal with your failure? Do you see it as a sign for you to stop your plan of getting rich? Resign yourself that it is impossible to be successful?
NO!
Failure is just a way of telling you that you are not doing it right. It is proof that there is something wrong with your plan. Your methodology need to be changed. So change the way you are doing things and continue with your aim to success. There are many ways to get rich, however, each route need to be discovered. It is like treasure in the middle of a jungle, and you are clearing the path to it. There are many others who had found treasure and had given you the treasure map. But why can’t you reach the destination the same way as your forefathers?
There are a lot of reasons why you cannot use the same road even though you got the same treasure map. You may be reading the map incorrectly. The path is slightly obscure by undergrowth or some trees may have felled and blocking your path. Do you use the compass and carve your own path to make a detour over the small obstacles? Or give up the rich treasure?
Thomas Edison had failed 10,000 times before he successfully develop the light bulb that we all use now. Had he given up on this 9000th bulb, we’ll still be in dark ages. He went ahead and keep trying until he succeed at it. When he was interviewed, he said that he didn’t fail 10,000 times but he found out 10,000 ways of not making the bulb.
Your defeat is not permanent. Your defeat is only temporary. It is just feedback that something is wrong with your plan. So just change your plans and persevere with it. Make a detour and move on with your treasure map.
Can Personal Development Make Me Rich?

Whenever people mention personal development, what is the first thing that comes into your mind? Do you think “Oh yeah its one of THOSE things to improve yourself and its not my cup of tea”. Or maybe its something like “I’m fine with myself now and I don’t need to improve myself”. Or more commonly “I don’t have time for it”. Talk about personal development and people will give you a blank stare as if you’re from space or you have some form of rare disease and avoid you. More often than not, they roll their eyes and look as if you’re recruiting them for some MLM.
Regardless, what do we understand by personal development? Many people may give you different definition but to me, its a term which means “Learn”.
If you can define something then it is more finite, tangible and we can see the parameters. Without a definition, things are subjective and intangible. For me, it means Learn.
In our everyday life, people are always learning about something. In a way, we learn so that we can be better at it and also to do things more efficiently. It doesn’t have to be a formal classroom type lesson, most of the time it’s hands on learning. Other more technical knowledge are best taught by experts. If you are interested in making your own furniture, don’t you think learning carpentry skills from a qualified carpenter will accelerate your learning curve and saves you time than doing it yourself?
Many of us think that after we leave school, we don’t need to study anymore. That is actually a wrong thinking. Regardless of what we do, we are constantly learning, whether formally or informally.
In the past 3 weeks, my belief in the importance of personal development deepens. I had enrolled in Fabian’s internet marketing bootcamp in KL despite of some of my other friends’ bad experience. I believe than he is qualified to be a trainer because he is successful in what he does. This is a paid bootcamp in a formal learning environment and its for my own personal development. I want to learn and develop my own internet marketing skills, so learning from an expert accelerated my learning curve.
In pursuing to develop my internet marketing skills, I met new friends who help to encourage and motivate me in my life as well as my internet marketing journey. Also, the event also opened up new opportunities for me to make money and improve my skills to make money online.
Last week, I had attended Dr Clemen’s graduate gathering, an ongoing update meeting between Dr Clemen and his students in options trading. This is again a paid and formal 5 hours learning session. Though there were many classes held in Malaysia, the number of students returning to further their learning and understanding of options trading is very small. I find that the continual graduates meeting is highly beneficial to graduates of his Freely School. This is because Dr Clemen updates his students on issues and strategies, encourages people to keep going after their life’s goal and also present opportunities to make more money or to improve your trading skills.
The small turn out may indicate that many graduates have given up options trading. But if they had continue to attend the graduates gathering, they’ll be able to strengthen what they learned and also expose themselves new opportunities which was reveal last week.
In the past 3 weeks, if I had not put my mind to continually develop myself and to push myself to learn more things, I will not be able to see such opportunities to make more money. Many people are not willing to pay to learn from others. They always think that the price is too high. However, they fail to see the importance of new knowledge and skills or an improved skill. Without such new knowledge and skills, we won’t be able to spot potential opportunities. We must always remember that we can be robbed and our physical materials taken away, but nobody can take away our knowledge and skills to make money.
What I am trying to impress on readers is that, personal development is not just to improve your well being. Many people think that personal development is all about getting motivated and positive thinking etc etc. On the contrary, personal development can be also mean to learn more knowledge or skills in addition to what you already know. Or to further deepen your knowledge or hone in your skills. When you put effort in doing these things, your perception will change and you will discover more opportunities opening up to you. Opportunities don’t just fall on your lap. You have to go look for it.
That being said, I believe that personal development not only improves your well being, it also improves your money making potentials!

Budgeting

To start a business, one must understand the importance of budgeting. Putting together a budget will require some thought and anticipation for the future. However, without any financial background on the business itself may make budgeting a guesswork, but one must understand that it has significant effect on a business.
We can separate the budget into two major categories, income and expenses. Where income means all their expenses that you receive for the products or services that you sell or provide, under the expenses you can actually split it to two categories, which is controllable or uncontrollable.
Many business owners thought that they can control all the expenses for the company. However, there are a few items which may not be easy to control as it is subject to changes time to time. Items such as utility cost, rental and other so-called fixed costs can, and do change, with the owner having no control.
Other expenses which are controllable may include items such as payroll, insurance and advertising that can be subjected to budget. These cost may be reduced should a business is facing some difficulty and vice versa. Another strategy may include laying off employees and cutting back on advertising. However, it is important that the business will continue to live by a budget to ensure or maintain profitability.
Regardless of what would happen in the future, it is always better to bite the financial bullet on employee wages and still provide good customer service to the remaining customers until business recover. You will quickly burn out if you are trying to do everything yourself, and the next question will be who is taking care of the customers, it will not take long until there are no more customers to care for.
You can have two ways to actually budget your business money by either in dollar amount and/or percentage of income. Most of the businesses will normally budget their controllable expenses by the dollar and non-controllable by percentage of income. Obviously, we should be looking at how to bring money into the business rather than wasting time in this area. How much we spend on controllable expenses will be in direct relation to income.
For example, a company earning $30,000 a month in income has budgeted five percent for payroll, providing $1,500 for payroll. If the income level rises to $60,000 the budgeted payroll percent does not change but the dollars available for payroll climbs to $3,000. With an obvious increase in business to create the additional income, the owner will probably need the extra help to take care of business.
Many other items in the business may fall into payroll account, these includes worker’s compensation charges, Social Security tax paid by the employer and paid vacation time or other perks determined by the employer. Although it may be difficult to establish a budget for a new business, but setting up budget remain one of the most important steps in building a new business.
